      J. Peter Signs has been creating unique commercial and residential signs since 1989. We are located in the foothills of the White Mountains, in the beautiful rolling countryside of western Maine. The company is an artistic collaboration between Peter and Ana Fitzgerald. Peter does the design work and the carving. Ana is the painter and Quality Control czar.

We are proud to be on the creative edge of the sign industry. Our hand carved signs are reminiscent of the marvelously detailed signs of yesteryear, but with an appeal to the modern eye.

Our unique custom designs combine the functionality of a sign with the three-dimensional artistry of a sculpture. The result is a softening of the line between sign and art.

Working from your photograph, we can make your sign truly personal.

Our clients are discerning people who appreciate the value of quality craftsmanship. Our hand carved signs are designed to satisfy the demanding tastes of people who are accustomed to having the best. Our signs are carved in a modern material called High Density Urethane - a substrate that will not warp, crack or absorb moisture. You can expect your sign to stand up to the harshest weather.

Of course it takes more than space age materials to make a good sign. We will design a work of art that reflects your personality and interests. Whether you want a replica of your garden or house or lake view, or a more complicated design, we can work with you to develop a unique design that perfectly expresses your needs.

Five or six times a year we take to the road to display our craftsmanship and introduce ourselves to new clients. During the summer you may find our booth at fine arts and crafts fairs in northern New England.
